STARTT  Professional Training Program Series

Training Program for Religious, Charitable and Educational Institutions - 14th June 2014 


Training program conducted by STARTT-PTP on 14th June 2014 helped to throw light on the gray areas of the financial, legal and operational functions of Not for Profit Organisations. Representatives from various religious organisations, schools, trusts, NGOs, colleges, charitable institutions, Chartered Accountants and other professionals participated in the program.


The program was inaugurated by Fr. Thomas Kallukalam CMI, Director of STARTT, followed by keynote address by Fr. James Mathew Pampara CMI, Chief Academic Adviser, STARTT. 



Sessions were conducted by CA John Mathew FCA, CA Reni Philip FCA, Mr.M G Kothandaram, Supt of Central Excise, Mr.  K R Narayana, Deputy Commissioner Income tax (TDS), Mrs. Soumya Achar IRS and Ms. Rukmini Attri IRS on various rules, regulations and compliance. 


There was an interactive session with each speaker so that the participants could discuss their doubts and difficulties directly and get proper guidance.

Course materials in digital form and participation certificates were distributed to all the participants at the end of the program.

2.     In spite of complaining to local authorities, and the State Government, no action has been taken to solve the problem of water scarcity in your area.  People have to queue before a public tap to get water which is pumped only once a day. To remove this hardship, some of the residents asked you to prepare a detailed letter to draw the attention of Prime Minister of India.  Write a letter containing 10 sentences.
3.     You have been asked by your mother to buy provisions  for one month from the supermarket for the use of entire family of four members.  What all you will buy? (Write the names of items and quantity. Do not write the price)
4.     Write the names of 20 capital cities in India.
5.     Write 4 lines of any English poem you have studied earlier. Write the name of the author.

2.     You come home from school one day and find that your mother has gone to the shop without switching of the gas stove.  Entire house smells of gas from the stove.  There is nobody in the house except you. A)Write  two things you should not do at that time. B)write two three things you should do at that time.
3.     Write the names of 10 famous living persons you know.
4.     If you have read a story or watched a movie recently, write 10 sentences about that story/movie
5.     What should we do to maintain a healthy and happy life?

2)    Recall the names of 5 former prime ministers and 5 former Presidents of India.
3)    Name 5 different sources of money for government of India to spend for development, salaries, army etc. (From where the government gets money)
4)    As per constitution of India, all citizens have freedom of speech, freedom to do business, freedom to act etc.  But government also restricts or controls the freedom given to citizens. How and why?  (write 10 sentences)
5)    Write 10 innovative things you will do for the country, if you become the prime minister of India. (Don’t write for example, I’ll remove poverty. You should write specific strategy that you will implement to remove poverty)
